Automatic WiFi re-connection after streaming on 4G network?

I streamed a local music station yesterday while I walked my dog via the 4G network. When I got back to my shop, I noticed WiFi didn't automatically connect, and after 3 failed attempts, I had to turn Data off to get my WiFi connection established. Is this the way the phone is supposed to handle it? When I'm not streaming it seems to hand off to WiFi when I get back from my walks.
