Automatically mute group chat messages per group

Hi, I have just made the move from iPhone to an S10. I'm struggling to find an option or app that will mute messenger group chats after a couple messages like the iPhone does. I have mutify but it mutes every notification from the app and only for a set time. Not until I open said group. I'd like to be notified of a new message in the group but not every single message that comes through.
Also I have disabled chat heads but I no longer get the drop down notification with chat previews.

Hope I have selected the right category as I couldn't see galaxy S10 in the list.

If you long press Facebook message app then tap.info >scroll to notification and tap> each category you can tap.and it will take you to submenu and adjust the settings there or toggle off just those notifications.

Won't that turn the notification off permanently? I'd like to be notified when there is a message but not every single chat that appears.
Not to blow the iPhones trumpet but this is a feature that worked really well. You'd get a "ding" but then the consecutive chats after that will be muted to stop neusence notifications.

No it won't disable , each category there tap and will take you to another menu to put silent , vibrate, sound etc..
You'll have to play around with what works best .

Thanks for that quick reply. Say I went into "Chats and Calls" and put it to silent that would then be permanently silenced would it not?

Welcome, it should put in status bar and not a pop up, but like I mentioned you need to try them out see what works , with andriod there lot of tweaking.

Ok I'll have a little play with the settings. Though I'm trying to achieve a way that will auto-mute after a couple messages. So I still want the sounds and pop ups but not every time. For example if I sent you 20 individual messages you'd get 20 "Dings" so if you're listening to music you can see how this could get annoying haha
What happens on ios is the first 2 messages would sound but the later messages would then be silenced. So you're notified but not hassled.

I hope that makes sense haha
