Greetings!

I'm experiencing some problems on my TV BOX running android 13.
I want to autostart an app I developed like I used to do in my old tv-box, but since I bought this new one with android 13 autostart is not working.
Any advice or another app recomendation?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central forums. Just a few questions to be sure we are offering the best advice possible.

What make and model is your Android TV box?

Does this model have the option available to auto start a specific app, the way your other box did or is this just something you'd like to do because you were able to in the past?

On your previous unit, was the app you auto started your app or something else?

Is your app officially available on the Play Store? Is it publicly available anywhere?

If we knew what make and model your box was we could look at the manufacturer's page for an FAQ page or related forum, because the odds of finding someone here that uses an Android TV box, and uses your specific make and model, or even just the same make, who also auto starts an app on their unit is going to be nearly zero. There just are not enough people here to have a big enough pool of people to expect to hit all of those marks. On the other hand, if the MFGr has an FAQ page or device forum, you may find this question has already been asked and/or people with the same equipment could test things to try and help you that way. I have to imagine that this model has the option to auto start an app, or I assume you wouldn't have asked but I have to say that if it doesn't, we're not going to be able to help you turn on a feature that isn't there. The reason I ask if you auto started your app previously and if your app is listed on the Play Store is because it may be a certificate issue. It it was your app previously, and now it won't work it could still be related to certificates. Android/Google is constently making updates for security reasons and on this updated version of Android maybe you need an officaial certificate, where before it just opened whatever it was told to open. Android devices look at app certificates and may block or inhibit apps without the proper ones. Google says this about app certificates.

An Android app certificate is a digital signature that uniquely identifies the app's author, required for installation and updates, ensuring integrity and authenticity; developers use self-signed certificates, often managing them via Android Studio and the Google Play Console for release, with different keys for debug and production, and the system uses these to verify updates and allow secure communication.
