What is every ones average picture file size? As far as I know all the settings are set to take highest quality but the pics file size is only 1.5 to 2.5 mb. My last phone Galaxy S5 the pics were 2 to 4 mb average so something seems wrong

Lower resolution camera will produce smaller files, doesn't seem abnormal to me.

Another factor is whether or not HEIF is enabled on an S10 (etc.). The high efficiency format produces smaller file sizes.

Go to Camera > Settings > Save Options to check on your device. IIRC, HEIF is on by default. This is likely the reason in your case.

That's the 1st thing I thought, why does S5 have a 16mp and S10+ have 12mp? Just because there are more cameras does not mean they should be smaller. But I have 2 friends with S10's that get 4 to 7mb pics

That is not turned on and I have been using 16:9, maybe I'll try 4:3

The S10 is lower resolution, the camera sensor itself isn't smaller. By reducing the resolution you reduce the number of pixels on the image sensor which results in them being larger. The larger a pixel is the more sensitive it is to light, so the drop to 12mp was a move to improve the quality of photos in doors, at night, or any time there isn't adequate light.

Also the camera sensor is 4:3, if you select any other aspect ratio it's cropping the image and giving you a total resolution below 12mp so that will also result in smaller file sizes. The camera on the S5 was 16:9 default.

Thanks for explaining the resolution, I'll set it to 4:3
