That is the question. I've been rocking a Galaxy S3 since it first came out and strangely, it's never failed once. In fact it still runs though far slower than other phones. I'm at a crossroads. I haven't been able to get carrier network updates and am stuck on Android 4.2.2 :(

I'm not a fan of spending high dollars for a flagship phone since I'm not a gamer nor do I stare at it constantly like many do. And while I know the camera in the Axon isn't great, if I want to take awesome photos I'll get a DSLR.

I want something faster, easy to view in daylight, works on ATT and is running at least Andorid 7.

So does buying a used Axon 7 make sense? Are all of you still happy with your phones and if you were in my place would you buy it now?

The phone is still very capable. Camera v could be better in low light but overall I'm satisfied. It's supposed to get Oreo as well. It will be a good upgrade for you

Thanks my friend...its a matter of finding the best one at the right price now. i saw the post about the security/performance update ZTE released also. Did it make the phone any faster or?

I haven't noticed any improvements. Battery seems slightly better but I haven't had any issues with this phone

If u can, wait for the axon 9

Thanks folks...will be curious to see how soon the Axon 9 specs are announced. Oddly I own an 27" iMac which I love though reviews of iPhones disappoint when compared to the Axon 7, so I'm sticking with Android

The axon 9 probably won't be released later this spring is my guess.
It's already been almost 2 yrs.
So, let's hope they will come out strong. And have to latest OS. Better camera to and among other improvements.
Larger memory and storage.
Especially storage. These days, every company wants u to DL their apps. And that takes up too much room.

I understand..and with the prices of all other major brands escalating I have to think ZTE will do the same..the foldable phone is what...$800? Not what I call a flagship killer. I bought my nearly new iMac with a 1 TB drive and 8 GB of RAM for $400...why would I spend double that on a phone??

We have to expect for prices to rise. But I doubt it will be 800. But then again who knows

I see very few posts about the Axon 7 Mini...other than being smaller with less RAM and a different processor, are there issues with it that keep it from being popular? I don't need a 5.5" screen since I'm accustomed to the 4.8" screen on my GS3. I just need faster, more recent OS and up to date connectivity.

The battery life is the problem with that phone

Its interesting that I came across an Axon 7 on Ebay the owner purchased in 2016 stating the battery wouldn't hold a charge as long as it did when new. Messaging him he said it normally would go 5-7 hours before needing a charge and now only about 3. That's crazy for a phone with a large battery like this isn't it?

Yea something is wrong with that phone. He should of taken it back or got an exchange

That's about how long my battery lasts. I just dropped mines and have to use tje insurance to get it replaced. I had to buy a LG Stylo 3 for now and the battery (and camera) is noticeably better. Once I get my replacement axon on a few weeks I'll see if the battery is any better

Keep us updated. I'm curious

Wow...that's crazy..the battery in my old GS3 lasts far longer and its only 2150 mA not to mention being 5 years old!

I've got a galaxy S7 edge, lg-v30, and axon7. Truth be told the axon7 is a superb phone that is still a great device. Very fast, excellent screen, of course you know about the hifi&dolby atmos in it. It also features expandable storage. The only downside is the camera when used to take indoor shots. They come out on the dark side even with the flash. Outdoor shots are excellent. My favorite phone and now my daily driver is the V30. It's just awesome. But your paying double the price. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the axon7 though, especially if it's in your budget to save money.

I've decided to continue my hunt for as near new Axon 7 as I can find. I'd heard comparisons made to the LG G6, but it seems LG phones quality control is iffy at best while it seems ZTE is consistent. I'll circle back once I find the right one. Thanks folks

Although my Axon7 is my backup device, (have the V30), it's still a fantastic phone. Beautiful screen, great battery life, expandable storage, great sound system (24 bit hifi dac) second only to the V30. And even with the 820 soc , it's very fast. Get one, you won't be sorry.

OK thanks for the feedback Rumblee...I found one the other day on Ebay that was purchased last June and looks clean. The guy wants $200. What I wonder is whether the new ban on ZTE will drive prices down. I did a chat with ZTE tech support who told me the Oreo update will be released and security patches will continue though I can't help but think that unless they resolve the problem with Google, Oreo might be the last OS update :(
