Hi All
Years ago during a boring meeting, I could always start a conversation with another bored attendee by quickly "beaming" messages to him with the IR capability of the Palm Pilot. It was quick, easy, and built right in to the Pilot.
I am curious if anyone knows of an app that can be used the same way on the Note 10.1. Maybe something that runs in the background so you will always be instantly notified if a message arrives from across the room ?
A handwritten note quickly beamed would be great.
Thanks !

I suppose now we would just send an sms, IM, email, snap chat or make a tweet or look at each others FB time lines.

After reading this post, I was wondering if our tablets have the S Beam or Android Beam Technology like I have on my Samsung GS lll. I know on my GS lll you are supposed to be able to send Photos and other files via the S Beam or Android Beam. The other person has to have a similar device with that Capability. I've never used it though. I can't seem to find anything saying the Samsung Galaxy Note Tablets have it or not. Just thought it might be an option that may work for what you want. I don't know though, just putting it out there.

Oops, sorry for the duplicate ......
Would not all of the above require a phone number, or require the tablet to have phone capability ? Facebook would require an internet connection.

I was aiming for an app that simply used thr ir capabilities.

cant you use the Wi-Fi direct feature?

I just sent a pdf from my tablet to my S2 using Wi-Fi direct...

I'm pretty sure the 10.1 doesn't have it because it is not equipped with NFC which is how Beam works. So you'd have to tap the device on another to get it to send. I am unaware if the note 8 has it though

i am wondering if someone could write an app to use the IR Blaster? The hardware is there, but someone needs to write the software.OK, maybe part of the hardware is there, the IR Blaster can send and IR signal, not sure if it can receive one.

If it could receive an IR signal I'd like to train it for special commands that do not come on the remote control app.
