When I run Battery Doctor on my phone it's showing around 80 apps running in the background. I don't remember my S4 having that problem and I was wondering if this is normal for the Note 4. Has anyone found a way to keep most apps from running in the background without rooting the phone?

Running in the background or being in RAM? There's a difference. The more RAM you have, the more apps will stay there after you stop using them. That's how Android works. Read Multitasking the Android Way.

I'm running battery doctor on my Note 4 and getting that kind of result as well. I'm not sure what its telling me. If they are in RAM, then shutting them down is counterproductive because they will be restarted and go back into RAM, using more battery. Running in the background seems like they are a problem, if thats what they are doing.

It's all the lame bloat of TouchWiz tho! when I'm at work I just get around 1.5h sot till 6pm and when I check my battery stats the Android system takes more energy than my screen does..
