Just trying to backup my contacts from my Galaxy A50 onto my laptop - when I look at them on the phone, there's over 4,000, but can't find any on the laptop? I see two folders, one for the card and one for phone. Any ideas how I can find them please?

a couple of things before I attempt to offer you any advice.

Why do you want to import your contacts to the laptop?

It sounds like your asking how to drag and drop a folder or other file type backup of your contacts onto your laptop. I do not believe you will be able to find a plain text version of your contacts that you can just copy and paste into a file for your laptop.

What app are you using for your contacts?

Are you using any kind of cloud service for backups? In my opinion, your best bet would be to save and backup your contacts with your Google account. This allows you to use and access your contacts anywhere you can log into your GMail account, no need to save anything special on your laptop, no need to enter information multiple times, just import it from your Google backup. Depending on what app you're using this may already be happening.

If you need a second opinion Google says this.

You can't directly find a specific folder where your contacts are stored on your Android phone, as the contacts database is not accessible as a regular file. However, you can access and manage your contacts through the Contacts app and sync them with your Google account. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Here's a more detailed explanation: [1, 2]

  • No Direct Folder: The contacts database is a secure, encrypted database, not a folder you can browse. [1, 2]
  • Contacts App: Open the Contacts app to view and manage your contacts. [4]
  • Google Account Sync: If you save your contacts to your Google Account, they will automatically sync with your phone and be accessible after you sign in. [3, 5]
  • Manage Contacts: You can manage your contacts by going to Settings > Google > Manage Google Account > People & Sharing > Contacts. [6]
  • Restore Contacts: If you have a backup of your contacts, you can restore them from your Google Account. [3, 6]
  • Export Contacts: You can also export your contacts to a file, which can be saved in internal storage. [7]
  • My Files App: You can then navigate to the internal storage through the My Files app to find the exported contacts file (e.g., Contacts.vsf). [7]
Give us a bit more information like the answers to my questions, and what your plan is for doing this. We might be able to offer you other advice or alternatives to achieve your goal.
