Backing up my phone

Hi,

Im confused about how the best way to back my phone up.

Ive always used Kies, though I cant back my contacts(which are saved through Google), but then there is G Cloud, samsung cloud storage(is this the same as G Cloud?), then there is a Samsung account which ive just found on my phone.

It seems quite confusing, I just want to know the best way to do this in case I ever lose my phone.

Ok thanks. one question though -

It says - "Ensure that photos you take are always saved direct to external SD card".

Why would you do this?

Because if your phone crashes or you need to do a Factory Data Reset, they will still be there on your removable SD card. Also, it saves precious space on your phone's internal memory.
