Like a lot of us, I am waiting for the S10+ (coming from the S7E). I have already backed up my contacts and my tasker profiles. I assume my google photos backed up to the Google Drive will be safe. I still have a couple of upgrade questions.

Is there a way to export / import my blocked caller list through google or maybe the native phone app?

Do I need a third party app to back up text messages? I use the google messages app and don't see any options there.

Any input appreciated.

not sure about the blocked caller list but for texts i've always used SMS Backup and Restore and it works great.

I think if you use Samsung's Smart Switch app to transfer your stuff, it will transfer that stuff but I am not 100%.

Thanks. I did think about smart switch. I need to research it and understand how it works. My concern is that here is a ton of bad software and bad habits on my current phone that I don't want to bring over. My plan was to back up only the important "must have" stuff and then reinstall used / needed software from the play store. There is a fair bit of garbage I don't use or suspect is problematic on the S7 and I want to start as clean as possible if that makes any sense.

When you launch SmartSwitch, you can pick and choose what the app moves over. Just skip anything you don't want to risk.

The app will bring up an entire list of every app on your phone and you check or uncheck each one individually whether you want it transferred or not. I just backed up only the stuff I want to my SD card and I'll put that right in the new phone and restore. It's so easy.

If you use Smart Switch it should back up your blocked calls. My blocked calls list has transferred from phone to phone, anyway.

I am transferring from a Samsung phone to a Samsung phone, but my blocked list has not been transferred, neither through samsung backup / restore, nor using smart switch. Contacts, call logs, SMS, were transferred however.

Are you sure blocked phones transfer? Any suggestions what i could try on my side?
