backup assistant + contacts sync failing repeatedly

I got the phone last night and the backup assistant + contacts sync is failing and re-trying and failing repeatedly. If I factory reset the phone could I skip setting this up so I don't have it?

i would skip the step and just sync contacts and all data from Google. i find that most backup app "restores" can be flaky and i only use them to restore in emergency situations. a clean sync direct from the source ie Google is always best IMO.

Did that and it seems to work.

It was, the guy who sold me the phone in the Verizon store was the one who turned it on and set it up originally. I factory reset and skipped the step of syncing contacts through Verizon and now it's just fine.
