Backup Assistant Plus Question

I've found that with so many things getting backed up my data usage was going up way too fast for the time allotted. I decided to turn off Google+, Dropbox and Backup Assistant Plus (this one via My Verizon online) and am wondering if my apps will be saved.

When I switched from my Droid 2 to the S3 I was surprised that my apps almost all showed up saving me a lot of time reinstalling.

Will I be able to transfer apps to a new phone when that time comes if I don't have Backup Assistant Plus enabled?

Not worried about contacts because the phone syncs with my google contacts.

Your apps are linked thou you gmail account .As long as you have that same account you will be able to see all the apps you ever installed on your phone free or purchased.
You can see for yourself by logging onto Playstore account via computer and signing in ,,then clicking on "My android apps tab" and choose which phone (if you have more then one ) on which those apps were installed to .Also will be able to see if those apps are compatiable with other devices/and depending on which operating system you are on ,(ex Ice cream sandwhich, jelly bean)
