Backup Assistant Pro - How to Disable? (effecting music player)

I am having trouble with Verizon's backup assistant. I never entered a password in it when I setup the phone and once setup, went through settings and disabled/unmarked all items (ie, backup music).

Problem comes with the music player in that when I open up playlist tab, the "syncing backup assistant pro" pops up in the notification area, then disappears after a second, and the tab waits for another 5 seconds before it lists anything.

Going through application manager, there were 2 backup assistants pros listed. was using 36 kb, shows as version 2, and cannot be disabled. Other shows as 0k used, version 1, and could be disabled (of which I did). But no effect.

Any ideas on how to resolve this? If not disabling Verizon's crap, then how to negate the effects on music player .

I am looking for the answer to this also. Even though everything is checked off on mine, it is still firing up and trying to sync.

Freeze every app that has to do with Verizon. I just didn't freeze My Verizon Mobile because I find that one useful. But I've noticed no problems after freezing all the other Verizon bloatware.

I find Titanium Backup Pro to be very easy to use.

Yes, but that requires rooting. While that is on my list to do (mainly FOR Titanium Backup, which I already own from my rooted Droid X), I am waiting for a more stable root (some have complained about keyboard issues). Great idea though to freeze them though, just not an option unless you root.

Doesn't the disabling function work sort of like Titanium's freezing? So far I haven't had problems with Backup Assistant -- I skipped it during set up -- but I have disabled the other Verizon apps.

same thing happening here.. it freezes my phone I guess because it downloaded music from my other phone.. cant play music is a problem for me

Re: Backup Assistant Pro - How to Disable? (effecting music playe

I did a factory reset and didnt enter the pin.. it still downloads everything but your contacts.. Im having problems deleting all the music on verizons website too.. this is bad because it locks the music player and the whole phone up...major bug needs to be remedied quickly!

OMG I hate this app. I never agreed to the terms, have everything unticked, set it to backup at midnight and any time I take a pic or put anything on the phone its making backups right away. I have never seen an app work even thou you dont agree to the terms. If anybody figures out how to stop this p.o.s.ware without rooting please pm me lol.:mad::mad::mad:

Re: Backup Assistant Pro - How to Disable? (effecting music playe

I finally got all music deleted from my backup on their website, then reset the phone.. that has worked for the music player as nothing shows up no.. also unclicked music backup as that seems to be the problem

I'm having this problem also. It doesn't affect any other music player but the stock one but the stock player seems pretty nice so I'd like to be able to use it without my phone locking up whenever I click pretty much anything on the screen.
Thankfully I have no problems with Play Music or the Amazon MP3 player.

I am having the exact same issue and nothing is checked and Backup asked for my pin which I have not entered. Doesn't affect poweramp but would like to use stock

Someone in another thread pointed out that you can go to Verizon's web site, go to the "change features" section, select the line on your account you want, and remove the backup assistant service from the line. Supposedly that makes it go away forever. I just tried it, hopefully it works! I really don't want to reset my phone or root just yet.

Nice! I just did this. Hopefully it did the trick.

My wife is having the same issue. I signed into her account and remove the feature from her account. Hope this works. It's annoying as heck.

I am happy ot confirm once you remove the feature from Verizon webiste, it stops the Backup Assistant service on the phone.
