I read the FAQ about backing up, but imaging the Atrix will only work on other Atrix's. How can I back up my Atrix so I can transfer all my apk's and settings to the Infuse or, do I have to download everything again and redo all the settings?

I'm sorry if this is written about in here somewhere, but I just couldn't find it.

Thanks...

Im with you on getting the Infuse also. Well lets see. You have Astro File Manager from the market that will back up the APKs. Also theres Titanium back up that you can download and that will back everything up. But I cant be specific on that. Because I dont normally back anything up. My important apps are paid apps. And Google knows this. Just like I know this. So google needs to be on point when I need to gett them back you know what Im sayin? lol let me stop. Titanium back up will do the trick. Download it free from the market. Although I have never done it myself, everyone says thats what they use.

Now, AT&T needs to open the flood gates so we can swarm in there and cop that Sammy Sungy Infusy!

Not sure if titanium backup will allow transfers to other phones. The reason I say that is because I am not sure if it also saves phone specific data also. Biggest issue with that is you will have to be rooted on both phones. As far as paid apps, they are attached to your gmail account you bought them with.

Thanks so much for posting so fast Terrigno. I need to get to Costco to do the swap pretty quickly. I'll try Titanium. I do have Astro, but I've moved most of my APK's to my sd card. It's mainly the settings for the apps that I'd like to backup. Hate the idea of having to redo all that.

Yeppers! That Sammy's larger screen is beckoning me, drawing me in, calling to me...Tuuuuuunnnnniiiieeeeee....ohhhh TUUUnnnnnnneeeeeee....lol

Thanks gvndeb60... I guess it seems to be the best option out there so, I'll do it and hope for the best. I'll post in here if it works in transferring the info to the Sammy...

TB will transfer from one device to another. I did it from my Xperia X10 to my Atrix, the only thing is, as mentioned you need to be rooted on both.

Have fun with the Infuse.

Yep and I'm not rooted sooo, I backed up the apk's, photos, etc. I'll just redo the settings.

Thank you.

I'll have to keep an eye out in my local Costco because I want to get my hands on the Infuse and try it out. I got my Atrix about a month ago and really like it, so I doubt I'll switch (esp since I already bought a case and screen protector for it).

I do want to see what working with a 4.5" screen is like. I'm surprised the Infuse only has a single core CPU... I don't know if it will be as fast as the Atrix... I'll have to read some reviews when they come out.

@Terrigno - When you switched over to your Infuse, were you able to transfer the app settings as well? Or did you just use it for the apks, and reset all of your settings separately?

Alternatively, you can always use AppBrain to sync your apps with their server. Then install it on your Infuse and sync again. It should batch reinstall all your apps. I do this whenever I flash my Atrix and let it restore all the apps overnight.

To be honest with you, I dont really use none of them to back up APKs. I use certain apps all the time and I know which ones they are. So having to do all the settings and install the apps again is the fun part for me when I get a new device. Ive done so much flashing and rooting that Im used to started from scratch now.

@Terringo - so when you are flashing and rooting, you aren't backing up anything first? You just go in and start fresh? I applaud the dedication :)

I've been using titanium backup for the past 2 weeks while flashing back and forth between 1.8.3 and gingerblur. It definitely makes getting back up to working ability all the faster. But I am open to best practices or tips if you'd like to share ;)
