Newbie question here...

I'm a little confused about backing up the X.

I understand my contacts are backed up through Google and/or the backup assistant with Verizon.

I am not rooted but have thought about it but before I do go down the rooting path can I backup my apps and data associated with them? Or do I have to have a list of apps written down somewhere so I can manually reinstall apps someday in the future when needed?

Thanks.

There are some apps that will back up your apps and allow you to restore them once you have Installed a new rom but with 2.2+ the market remembers your apps and automatically downloads them the first time you open the market.

Also ClockworkMod Recovery makes an exact copy of your phone so if you decided to try a different rom and decide that you don't like it you can restore the back up and everything will be back to normal, no need to re-download your apps.

Thank you very much!

MyBackup Pro does well to backup apps on a unrooted device and also there is extra options for backup that will become available when you root the device like saving apps settings... I never restore the contacts because Google restores information on login also the system settings shouldn't be used if you are reloading do to software issues because this will restore the errors.

This app works nice and I havent had any issues using it.
