Is there any app which can be used to ensure that the current 'free' apps are available to me even after I hard re-set my phone?
I have not been successful in rooting the phone (Echo with GB 2.3.4).

I understand that Google Marketplace only saves the paid apps.

Any help is appreciated.

I would say titanium backup but I'm pretty sure that you need to be rooted for that. You may want to use the market from your computer to load the apps. Its usually quicker and will send them straight to your phone...

You can log into the market via web and see the list of Apps downloaded to the device. If you are not rooted you can then select the Apps you want to install and the device will start to download them when data is connected.

It's not the most efficient way, but gets the job done.
