Backup GS5 with Kies

Day 3 of trying to back up my GS5 to my macbook pro using Kies and it just endlessly says its loading. Im using the USB3.0 cable that came with the phone and I removed Android File Transfer because a prompt showed up saying that in the future if I decided to use AFT I would have to remove Kies as they clash. Still no success. I sat on hold with Samsung for 55 mins, fell asleep and eventually someone showed up to help me using the a program to get inside both my macbook pro and my GS5 still no success

I unchecked the Photo data and Kies ran just fine on my Windows desktop box.

Why? Because of the humongous amount of data contained in a lot of photo files.
You can back those up else where, and then download them into the phone (if needed).

I highly suggest that you not use Kies 3.0 for backing up photos. That is a data overload problem waiting to happen, and USB is just way too slow to handle it in a reasonable amount of time. Besides, there is no way in Kies to look for, and just download one (1) photo. It is an all or nothing ordeal.

Much better ways to handle photos.

WiFi can transfer your photos in a heartbeat to a pc or webhost.
