Hmm maybe I should take a look at a different app myself. What is everyone using that they like more than the stock messaging app?

Also I should mention I do use and like the edge text notifications where I get a little color bar for certain people pop out of the side of the phone. It would be nice to keep that working with an aftermarket app if possible. Also notifications on my gear S2 classic are needed too.

I use Textra. I like the Samsung messaging app, especially because it integrates beautifully with Themes, BUT it lacks heavily in the fast performance department, plus it's not the greatest when it comes to Android Wear support/experience, so I stick with Textra because of those.

Ah ok, I downloaded textra and I do like how fast it is but the integration with the edge screen and my gear s2 seems to be lacking. If the samsung messaging app were just a bit quicker it would be great. That is why my conversations that have so many messages in them take longer to load. With textra it's instant. I might have to use it for a while and see if I can get used to not having the edge notifications. But I will have to try to get the gear s2 notifications working. I also don't like how now the app color and text color is different from the samsung keyboard and the way it has themed itself with the theme I have installed.

I have the vanilla theme installed so the text is like a creme color on the keyboard but no option for that in textra that I can find.
