Backup Question

I was wondering if the only real good backup program was nanobackup or something like that, but you had to root your phone.

I am on the fence about rooting my phone, but am leaning twards not really wanting to unless I find a reason why i should. I am new to android so i may not know any of the things i can do while rooted hehe.

Anyway, is there a good backup method that completely backs up my phone, to where if i have to restore it to default i can just load the backup back on to the phone and keep going?

lookout and miq both back up photos, contacts, call logs, sms, etc... But if you want FULL backup - like an image of your phone, I believe you need to be rooted.
