I am moving on to the s20 and getting rid of my s10+ . Not-rooted. I did Smart Switch but it misses a lot of stuff. For example , I use a 3rd party app called Keep My Notes - and I have to do the export of my notes manually. Kind of annoying Smart Switch does not take care of stuff like that.

So now that I about to wipe my phone and get rid of it, I want to save a backup of internal storage on my PC in case there are files I need

I tried an adb backup, the backup file only ended being 700mb. According to both settings on my phone and Windows, I have about 65gb used data on my internal storage, however, when I open the phone folder on my pc and select all folders and files , it only calculates about 6gb data - where is all the other 59gb of data? I am guessing because I am not rooted, I cant see all the system files but I still think 59gb is huge amount to not worry about backing up.

Looking for advice. Ive tried Helium on past phones but it misses stuff too.

If its just the app , make a back up of it which in the app and move it to Google drive , when u go set-up new phone hit restore within the app from Google drive.

Much of your data isn't in "your" internal storage, it's in system internal storage, and if the app doesn't back up to some place you can get to, you can't get to that app's data. Helium might work, but it hasn't been updated in almost 2 years, and doesn't run very well on Android 10 or 11. Titanium Backup works, but the phone has to be rooted (and rooting might wipe the phone (I haven't rooted a Samsung in about 6 years - it's different now, so I can't say.)

You could, if you don't mind the work, make an image of storage (see this page) and copy the image to the backup device., Then at least your data is safe, and you can learn enough to eventually mount the image and get the files from it.

As mustang said though, if you have apps synced to Google, if you set the S20 up on the same Google account the S10+ is, the S20 will load all the apps and their data. (You'll probably need the S10+ to start, though - you place the phones back to back (sync uses NFC to start the backup, and the NFC antenna is inside the back of the phone) at the start of setting the S20 up, then Google sync takes over.)

Yeah , thanks. I already have the s20 up and running. I used both Google Backup and Smart Switch. I have to send my s10 to Samsung for trade in so before hand I wanted to back up more so than what Smart Switch backs up on a pc and it looked like just copy and paste of internal storage was missing alot. I wish the backups would be more straight forward.

I backed up the specific app by syncing to Google (this has to be manual within the single app) - I am afraid that when I wipe the phone I'll want the data for some other app I didnt think of beforehand.

I think you provided the incorrect link
