backup & restore question

What is the difference btw these settings paths?
Settings>Display>Home & Lock>Home Screen>Data>Home backup & restore
AND
Settings>General>Backup & reset> LG Backup Service> Backup and restore

In the latter, I can set the path to the sd card and seem to be able to create a new backup. In the former, it says its doing a backup but I don't see the result in the storage/external_SD/LGBackup folder. So I am leery that anything is happening .

I think the former only saves the setup of your homescreens. The LG Backup service is for your user data (like contacts, settings, etc.): https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-11886

But if you do a reset the former is then gone, while the latter is still on your SD so you can restore it?

Good question--I don't know. But that support page does indicate that the LG Backup Service does backup the homescreen setup as well, so it might just be redundant.

If I just use "the former" I can't find where it backs up to either. It doesn't change what's in the SD backup folder. So I would conclude it cannot be used for restoring after a reset.

That's a good bet. It might only be useful if you rearranged your homescreens or wiped them somehow (without a reset), and wanted to restore the homescreen setup.
