Do I got a pioneer 4100 installed this weekend and really enjoining it but I was wondering will the consent plugging and unplugging and micro charging be bad for a phone over time?

If you're very careful, the connector should last longer than you want to keep the phone. If you normally just jam plugs in, even if they're at an angle, or not lined up, it's bad - you can destroy a connector in a week. (Most connectors fail in one of two ways - either the center bar with the contacts gets broken off or one of the pins holding the connector to the printed circuit board gets worked loose because of too much pressure, twisting the cable once it's plugged in, etc.)

I'd like to think I tend to plug in (and unplug) more than an average user, and I've yet to break one. (And certainly haven't had anything go wrong so far after a month of using Android Auto.

Good point Phil. Do you think over time the consent charging will damage or shorten the battery of a phone?

I do software dev and have some 25 devices I've replugged many hundreds to a few thousand times. Only problem was one device that I jammed and that's my fault and it still pretty much works.

Deep discharge will shorten life a lot and I see that on many of my older phones. Over-charging isn't so much of a problem, unless charger is bad or battery gets too hot.

I wouldn't worry about this with AA more than using any other charger.
