Bad touchscreen sensors? Anyone else?

I won't lie, I LOVE my Droid Pro. But the sensors don't register consistently when I put the phone up to my ear, to shut down the touchscreen and it's driving me INSANE. I work from home and use my phone all.the.time, so you can imagine how frustrating this is not just for me, but for the people on the other end. Sometimes it simply cuts off the call, sometimes the effing keys just beep CONSTANTLY. I've had to use my bluetooth headset I have for the car, in the house because this has become such an issue.

My first Pro had a dead enter key, the second one I returned for faulty sensors, I just got this third one the other day....and here we go again.

I am almost ready to go back to a Blackberry but REALLY want to try and figure this out.

I also saw the thread regarding rebooting...and that's happened to me too. I am thoroughly disappointed with these glitches, but want to stick with Droid if I can!

You've most likely check this, but is there anything covering or shielding the light sensor at the top of your phone, right by the Motorola lettering? If you have a screen protector, or anything else for that matter like a skin or sleeve, make sure it does not cover this area of your phone. If those sensors are covered or shielded with anything they will not work correctly.

It's hard to understand how you can get two new phones with the same problem...a problem not experienced by many other Pro users. That's not to say the store you got your phone from got a bad "batch" from the manufacturer. I guess it could be a software issue, but it sounds more like a hardware issue to me.

I had a screen protector on the second one, which I removed, as well as a hard crystal case (when my now 4 y/o was 2, she decided to see what would happen if she plopped my blackberry into a glass of water, lol, so I felt it was necessary). still did the same damn thing...

This one has nothing on it, and came directly from VZW as opposed to from the store.

According to VZW, it could be the apps interfering with the OS itself. FAB.

If it happens again I am to do a hard reset and reload the apps one or two at a time, a day or two apart, to whittle down which app it could possibly be.

If anyone else has had this issue or has additional input feel free to chime in.

Thank you!!

Well, it could be an app like Screebl, which controls a number of screen functions etc. If you have an app installed like Screebl, that might be causing you the problem. I think Verizon has given you a reasonable approach. Uninstall any app you have downloaded and installed. See if the problem persist. If it doesn't, then one of the apps that DID NOT COME on the phone is causing you the problem...most likely. It the problem still persist, do a factory reset...it's a pain, but may solve your problem.

Regarding the reboot issue. Yeah, ever since the last update, a lot of people are reporting random reboot for no apparent reason. Hopefully the next update will fix that issue and others.

Thanks so much for the input. do we know when the next OS update is happening?

No clue what Screebl is...my stuff is more like MSNBC, Discovery and the weather channel; I'm a news junkie...

You might want to try Screebl. Screebl is an app that controls a lot of screen functions...particularly the one you are having problems with. This app may solve the issue. There are a lot of experienced Droid users that recommend this app...and it can increase time between battery charges.
