Badges gone crazy

I just got my galaxy S9 and I use GroupMe for a chat group with some friends. The badges seem to be going crazy. Like if I have 3 or 4 messages waiting the badge will read something like 36.i uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and it's still like this. Anyone have any suggestions?

Can't help, sorry. But read that at least 3 times as "Badgers gone crazy"
