ballistic nylon vs glass fiber

Is there a difference in dementions between the 2 materials? Some of the reviews that I am reading are saying the ballistic nylon version is thicker and heavier. True?

Just by briefly looking at and touching them, I did not notice any obvious differences as to size and weight, but I think the Nylon (which I bought) looks cooler and feels nicer.
