Hey everyone,

I would just like to say that thanks to this forum and the help on the BAMF forums, I was able to totally and successfully take my rooted TB who was getting pinged to download the GB VM patch, and pushing it into a whole new realm! Thank you so much. :D

But I am new to rooting, and backing up. I goofed on my backups and this is why I am writing.

I think I overwrote my Titanium backup of my contacts list, and they are gone. I know I have a working nandroid backup of the pre-patched GB rom I rooted with Revolutionary. I made a couple of mistakes like not realizing BAMF forever 1.0.9 was a patch to 1.0.8 so I had to go back and reload the old version until I could successfully download 1.0.8. So I know my contacts are contained in that old backup. If someone who know this process well can QC my plans, and let me know if there is an easier way to do this.

I would like to get back my contacts and maybe my sms/mms from before I upgraded to the 1.0.9 rom. I will be happy with just the contacts. Is there a way to partially load data from an old rom? I have the rom manager, titanium backup and mybackup - which I didn't use mybackup in the creation of my new phone, that was a big oversight. I thought TB would cover me, but there were no contacts to restore in tb, so I have done something wrong.

SO then if there is not an easier way ( like google and htc sync - both of which I also didn't use) to get contacts out of a backup file, then do I need to:

Flash back to the previous nandroid backup, then save my contacts and mms/sms properly, then reflash to 1.0.9? If this is the only/best way to get my contacts back, can I just take a backup of my current 1.0.9 and flash back to that and not have to reload 1.0.8 and 1.0.9?

I am sorry for the simple and stupid oversight on my part. Sigh. :( Other that this stupid mistake, BAMF forever 1.0.9 is like having a completely new phone.

Any advice is appreciated, and if there are other people out there on the brink of flashing, make backups of everything and then make the jump! You will be very glad you did, just learn from my mistakes!

Partially reload your ROM... NO.

Make a current backup... then restore your old back... make a backup of your contacts with whatever app you want to (plenty to choose from)... then boot up in recovery... restore your ROM and use your app to restore your contacts.

The easiest way to restore your contacts in the future is just to save all your contacts to Gmail... you will NEVER have to back them up again... just log into your gmail account and all your contacts will load.

This is what I thought. :-[ Thanks for the confirmation. I will use the Gmail backup like you said.
Here goes some fun!

Cheers - and thanks! :)

Flashed to old backup and saved, then went in and backed up my data, then flashed back to 1.0.9 and it worked, it's fixed. Really like the sense 3.0. Really like how my battery lasts and lasts. It all looks pretty good at the moment. Thanks again for the help.

Not a problem... this is a very good site for asking questions and getting a good answer.
