So-called Battery Saver Apps are a waste of time. Not only are they ineffective, some actually use more power than they save.

Just be careful setting up the phone. Use common sense. Don't set email to sync every 2 minutes. Turn the screen brightness down some, stuff like that.

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

An app won't give you 50% more battery life out of your battery. The only thing that can is an actual battery that's bigger in capacity.

Just follow the tips Neo_ii_Droid linked above and you should be fine. Also read the thread that he linked (I made that), since it explains why many of us do not recommend installing apps like Battery Doctor, Du Battery Saver and whatnot.
