Why don't we have a standard for induction, wireless charging yet? For a technology that's been around for a while I feel it should be standard on more phones. I saw it came with the new nokia's and it made me wonder why it isn't everywhere. Along the same lines, there should be induction charging docks so people can keep their phone upright for easy viewing.

Anybody have any insight into this? I would love to learn a bit about it.

I am sure there are a few technologies. The trick is everyone agreeing on 1. If there is no standard its just pointless. I'm sitting here writing this on my gnex while plugged up. If I used the wireless charging pad in wouldn't be able to do that. This is one of those things that sound cool.

But
1. Will it charge as fast
2. When will I be able to have it charge while I use it in hand.

Well, if they're going to start using it in phones, I have to assume it charges as fast as or close to the same rate as a hard line. I dont think anyone would be interested if it took 7 hours for a full charge. As for using it while it charges, I am not sure about the tech involved but I would think it would be similar to RFID readers. They can be set to read at different distances. Could the same be possible for induction charging?
