Battery charging time insanely long?

The battery life on the Nexus isn't super great to start with. However, what annoys me much more is the insane amount of time it takes to charge the sucker. Last night it took almost 4 hours to get from (close to) zero to 100%. Is anyone else seeing this or is my battery on the fritz?

In comparison: both the iPhone 3GS and the Motorola Milestone charge from zero to 100% in less than an hour and a half.

ps: I tried charging using the original charger, a generic USB charger and via microUSB cable through my Mac's USB port - same results

if your charging with a USB then its going to take a little longer than the wall charger because the USB is on pushing a charge to it at 350 mA. The wall charger that comes with isn't much better at 450mA but it is a little faster. I'm using a wall from one of my BBs and it is charging at 650mA. The time difference is about 1 1/2 hours between the two. Now pushing the charge a little faster hasn't decreased my battery life yet but i cant say for sure that it wont in the long run. I just haven't had enough time to see. The OS may allow that with out affecting the battery I just don't know right now. Yes, i have noticed that it takes a while to charge. That is the nice thing about the iphone is it doesn't take that long to out a decent charge on it. Then again with the nexus you can swap batteries.

For what it's worth, I've found turning on auto-brightness, or even using 50% brightness helps worlds with the battery life.

My charge lasted 15 hours yesterday with active use (on auto brightness)

Well, that certainly sounds like non-typical performance.

As background, I've got twitter, rss, gmail, email (over imap checks every 5 minutes) and gchat enabled all day.

I text, email and web browse throughout the day, with minimal phone calls

Yea, I'm not getting that long of a charge time... that's crazy. It takes my Nexus One about 1.5/2 hours to fully charge. For example, it was at 15% and I just plugged it into my AC charger about 15 minutes ago and it's already at 27%.

I am getting almost double the battery life out of mine after doing the following:

- downloaded advanced task killer and use it to frequently close apps
- cleared the cache of apps as mentioned in another thread.
- use the toggle widget to turn off BT, WiFi, GPS when not in use
- turned OFF auto brightness and set the display to 0 (or use the toggle widget for the lowest setting) - at night this is fine. During the day I use the 2nd setting (which is like 25% when you view it through the slide bar)
- only do push with my Gmail account. For the Exchange account I pull email and do not synch calendar or contacts. I use a desktop app for that between Exchange and Gmail

Before I was getting nervous about battery around 3-4pm. Now I am making it until 10 at night with more than 1/2 a battery left.

I have just charged my battery from circa 3% to full in about 1 hour 40. Performance seems to be getting better, last charge lasted for 2.5 days with light use.
