are the batter covers all the same across all versions of the galaxy nexus? i cracked mine and found a few different options online to replace it but they say " NOT for Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus I515 ". i dont care if i lose the "verizon 4G" id actually prefer it say just "GOOGLE"

No, they are not. They will have different prongs and such. Sure, you can modify them, but make sure you have a backup .

The GSM version of the cover is different then the cdma version due to different battery capacities.

And I believe the prongs are different as well due to the different "chassis" layouts of each. Same with Sprint and ours as well, IIRC.

If you get an extended battery it will come with a new back as well. I fully recommend the Hyperion 3800 extended battery. That's what I am using and in very happy with it
