Battery Drain and Android Market

Today, I took my phone off the charger and disabled the mobile, wifi, and gps connections. Over four hours, the battery only discharged, 4-5%. I then enabled the mobile connection briefly to downloaded a few apps. This immediately drained the battery of another 5-10%. Quite a bit of drainage of the battery. Has anyone else noticed this kind of drainage from the market and or just enabling mobile connections?
