Battery drain

I used to get a good 2 days of battery use on my G2 but it is now becoming a dog. Until less than a week ago I used to get a battery drain of around 2-2.5% per hour with moderate use now I am experiencing 8-10% per hour. I have not changed anything, not installed any new apps and I still use it in a high reception area. I have noted that the Android System, which used to eat 10-15% battery is now using 50-60%, but I repeat I have not done anything at all. Is anyone having similar issues? Anyone knows how to fix the problem?

Please refer to the screenshots below.
My telephone went in a frenzy this morning and and was very hot and kept freezing. I had to restart it several times and I kept it off for a few hours to cool down. It has now stabilised and gone back to 4-5% battery drain per hour, Android System still accounts for over 50% battery consumption.
I really would like to know what went wrong.

None whatsoever, at least none that I am aware of, you can never be sure what Google does in the background.

The OS asks to allow the install, so probably not. Have you considered a reset to clear whatever might be stuck?

I have actually, it is now working reasonably well, if does get worse again I will reset.
