If I have to keep turning all radios on and off when I need them them I can't use the phone. I don't want to micro manage the system. It should be smart at some things. I refuse to sit there and turn my 3G on them sync mail and turn it off. Just dumb that I would need to take those steps to make it through the day. I'm sure of anyone micro managed their phone they could get 2 days. But for normal users that certainly isn't a viable solution.
exactly...my other post was a very extreme conservation of battery life....i was able to go well over a day and a half. Most of the time i dont need to be away from power for more then a few hours, but i wanted to know that i could do more if i needed to. The point of my post was to show different ways to conserve battery. its up to the individual user to decide how and when to conserve power. on a normal day, i can leave mobile data and sync on all day without needing to plug in for 10+ hours. The phone more then gets me through the day with normal usage.
the main thing is to know what type of user you are..
and I think most people dont. Many users think they use their phone more often they actually do The truth is that when they leave radios on that they are not using, they are the first ones to say "this phone sucks" when in reality,.... it's user error..
..for example...
I find that if I'm in the car using GPS, i have no use for WIFI so I shut it to conserve power. Many will argue that they dont want to have to micromanage their phone, but I cant see how someone who is on their phone "all the time" doesn't have time to pull down the notification bar and simply click the WIFI toggle off. If you can leave WIFI on all day and not need to charge then great, but those who complain about battery life and aren't willing to change their behavior to fix it will have no choice but to get another phone or deal with dead batteries. a phone cant just "be better" when a person isnt willing to learn how to use it.
My GF had an issue similar to this. She would say something like " I wish this phone would last as long as my simple old flip phone would. It sucks that this phone is suppose to be so great and cant make it through the day."
What she failed to see was that her smart phone actually had the ability to make it through the day if she set it up to ONLY do what her old flip phone did. If she only used talk and text, then her smart phone would last 3+ days and could actually blow her flip phone out of the water with battery life...
.but no one wants to do that... She wasn't willing to give up twitter, and instagram, and gps navigation, and google+, and emails, etc etc etc.. Some people never realize that with more functionality, comes more function, comes more use, and consumes more battery. Smart phones cant be expected to do 10 times the work of dumb phones and use the same amount of battery.
with a great phone like the S3 you get to decide what is most important and manage accordingly
your other option is to buy a phone that decides for you
anyone who thinks another phone out there will be better needs to really compare and see that the other phone is capable of doing all that this one does....most likely its not...and if it isn't ...then look into what you would be missing and disable it from this phone to see if battery life improves. If its too much for you to think about, then maybe buying a phone with less choices is a better option for you.
....PS...this wasnt all directed towards scorpiodsu...just happened to quote him ...nothing personal :-!
