Has anyone seen this problem before? I just got the Nook Color and made sure to charge it completely before doing anything with it. It ran just fine on day one, but on day two I started having a serious issue. I charged the battery overnight then unplugged it and checked the battery level, it reported 100%. I then plugged the NC into my laptop to transfer some PDF's to it, the battery immediately indicated that it needed to be charged and showed that it was at 16%?!

I ejected it then recharged the battery for 3 hours. It showed 96% full after that. Once again I plugged it into my laptop and once again it immediately said the battery was only 15% full and then after about 5 mins it shut down due to dead battery. WTF?!

hm something is eating the battery. could be too many apps running in the background. i suggest getting a batter monitor/task killer app (not to kill tasks but to see what is using up the battery most) and uninstall that app or just reduce the frequency it is synching/running in the background.

alternatively just go to settings, about phone, battery - to see whats eating up the battery

It is NOT normal for it to drop from 100% down to 15% by just plugging the cable into your laptop. No program can drain it that fast.

Are you using the cable that came with it? Have you turned it totally off and back on? If that does not help I would go and exchange it. You could have a bad battery.

That is strange. My PC will actually charge the battery (slower than the charger, however). Is it a USB 2.0 port?

Yes it can be charged from the computer via USB. As he said above, it is just slower. I have not seen it actually report that it is charging, but you can see the battery level go up.

thanks for the responses. I actually haven't even rooted it yet, I was going to yesterday but that's when this stuff started happening. I didn't even get a chance to start ANY of the rooting procedure. I was using the official usb cable, I did power cycle it and made sure the battery showed a full charge before plugging it in.

This is really driving me crazy and any insight or help is appreciated. I would like to root it and see what it can really do.
