Battery Impressions

So I've had my 6P for a couple days, and now that I'm not constantly setting up apps and accounts, I think my battery life is starting to even out. I recharged yesterday around 5pm and since then I got a little over 4 hours of screen time. I took screenshots right when the 15% battery notification popped up (I plugged it in to get rid of the orange bars). I also posted my app breakdown too, so you can see what I used. Mostly phone calls, tweets, and Spotify, but I did do some gaming for about 20 minutes. I've watched a lot of videos through social media accounts rather than YouTube. I'm pretty impressed with how it performed, and I betting I will see even more SOT in the next couple days. Any other 6P owners seeing promising results?

When you are on LTE, what % does the phone burn per hour in Standby?

I hadn't checked when I first made this post, but I'll take a look at the end of the day today. I was running on Wi-Fi most of the day, but I have a decent LTE signal with AT&T. Over the past few days I've been able to eke out more than 4 hours of SOT with the same 15% threshold.

I've only used the phone for a few full days now, so I'll completely hold judgement for a little bit longer, but so far, I was hoping for a little better battery life. With pretty much the exact same usage as my g4, the 6p is just below it in terms of battery life. And that's with over 400 mah more battery on the 6p. I know there's a lot of variables, but still. Everything else is pretty damn fantastic about this phone.

That kind of sucks honestly. I have a G4 too and I'm already not too happy about it's battery life compared to the iPhone 6 that I sold.

Opinions still seem to be all over the place concerning battery life.

Went from a Samsung galaxy Nexus- 1-2 hours SOT (man I hated this phone)
to a Droid Maxx -- 3-4 hours SOT
to the current Moto X Pure- 2-3 hours SOT- one of the main reasons I returned an otherwise mostly good phone
to the 6p - 3-6 hours SOT- It swings higher on the scale when on wifi

So far... I'm pretty satisfied. It's not blowing my mind-- but I'm not stressing with "range-anxiety"

I feel that's with every phone. They either have bad battery life or mixes. You have your exceptions with some phones universal having good battery life but you still have some people seemingly unhappy.

Battery life threads need to be taken with a grain of salt. So many factors: screen brightness, screen on time, wifi strength, data strength, vibrate v no vibrate, streaming, processor intensive programs, etc.

I agree, battery life experiences vary greatly due to usage patterns. However, if you are comparing usage between two devices that you have experiences with, there's a better baseline for comparison for other users.

But, there will never be an exact science to this.

Anyone come from an iPhone 6(s) Plus? I have my 6p ordered but I routinely get the iPhone 6s plus from 100% to 0% by 7-8 pm and have a job that doesn't allow mid-day charging because I'm out and about, but the iPhone reliably gets me through this time daily with heavy use (estimated total usage time around 8-10 hours) since it's my principal computer on the go. Would a 6p survive this kind of day?

I use the 6s plus as well and it and the 6 plus have the best battery life of cell phone I've ever used. My note 5 is one of the best I've used for Android. I am getting my 6p delivered Tuesday. My expectations are around 6 hours of on screen time for this phone. I can get that with my note. I'm really excited about this phone and hope this can get me off the iPhone but the battery is one of the most important features for me.

How do you manage 8 to 10 hrs usage by 7pm when you've been at work all day?

Totally agree. With that said, I am pleased with battery life on the 6P so far

Couldn't agree with you more. I had the iPhone 6 Plus and now the 6s Plus and the battery life is absolutely phenomenal.

I keep coming back to Android because I love so many features of it, but battery life on almost all of my Android phones (so far) has been pretty abysmal. I hear the Sony line is pretty close to Apple which is encouraging.

I'm on the waiting list for the 6P and I'd be thrilled, like you, to get 6 hours SOT but it's not looking hopeful. Looks much more like a 4 hour SOT phone which I just can't wrap my head around since it has such a huge battery and Marshmallow was supposed to fix many of the battery drains Lollipop had. Hoping some more optimizations in the coming days can improve battery optimization from here.

I try to give details about how I use my phone. Brightness stays put at around 50% and I'm normally streaming music over Bluetooth in my car or to headphones. I don't download much unless it's for long trips. Wi-Fi and cell strength have both been good throughout my use. All things considered for my use, I'm satisfied with the battery. It gets me through the day without any worries. Sure I'd love more, but 1) who wouldn't and 2) I'd probably still have to charge it daily anyway.

IPhone usage time is not screen on time. It counts any background synching as usage. The iphone could literally sit all day and have 6 hours of usage. Can't compare iPhone usage to screen on on android
