are they known to drain battery? i like using one because the stock one is so inaccurate but am starting to think its actually causing more battery drain than its worth. any of them that are lighter on battery use than others?

I use circle battery and don't seem to be having an issue.

If you just need the information, but not a Widget, there are two ways to get this info on the stock phone manually.

1) Dial *#*#4636#*#* | Select Battery | Read Battery Level (in percentage).
*You can also download the Market app "Phone Info" to avoid dialing.

2) While the phone is plugged in, charging, tap on the Clock Widget numbers and read the Battery Level Percentage in the lower right.
