Hello all,

this is my first post here. at some point my android os became the #1 battery drainer on my nexus 4 and i'm not sure why or
if its the way its supposed to be.
below are screenshots.
i have a live wallpaper (galactic core), could that be the reason for 34%??

thanks!

It's not your wallpaper, as that would be treated as an app and show up as such. What's your screen on time like?

screen on time is 1h57m54s.
then what could it be? im pretty sure all my apps are standard stuff.

I also have high Android OS, although not higher than the screen. But it's on 2nd place, where with my GNex on 4.2.1, it's normally on 4th place or lower.

I'm not sure but if you still have 40% of battery left with two hours of screen time, that's pretty good. Could it be the GPS and wifi?

yeah im not complaining generally about battery time - just specifically on this percentage, since about 2 days ago the android os was some single digit percent, and suddenly it jumped to this, so i keep thinking i did something to mess it up.
i have since set wifi to off when in standby, i guess ill see if that helps only later on.

The GPS and Wifi bar is covering the entire length almost.

Having the exact same problem... started noticing the android os percentage spike a day or 2 ago... it usually was a single digit and now is at 38% with 3h 12m Keep Awake time. Dont know what the hell has happened?

Same here. Its been a couple days since my android os has been higher than usual. I get less screen time now because the os is draining a significant amount of battery.

this is a known issue right now.. Google is working on a fix for it as we speak.

basically there is a problem with the kernel that keeps the phone awake when it should stay in a deep sleep to save battery. there are threads about it on XDA and qualcomm even released a patch for their chipsets. I have found that turning off google now and increasing the time window for apps to check for notifications helps mitigate it. obviously this is not ideal but could be a work around until an OTA fixes it. There are also some custom kernals such as franco that claim to have fixed it.

AOKP + Franco's Kernel much better battery life

i experienced this too. my nexus 7 is 92% charged then i woke up after 7 hrs, my nexus 7 is asleep then it went down to 74%.

Not sure what's going on with mine. Took it off the charger at 6 am put it in my pocket and drove to work. Looked at it at 7:30 and the battery had drained to 92% and the battery indicator showed it was still attached to the charger. Android OS is the big drainer.

And check out the charge activity between 4 and 5 while it was on the charger and I was asleep.
