Battery jumped from 10% to 30%.......what the duck?

Strange......after 1 day and about 4 hours of usage, my battery was about 10% left. I thought let me leave it till the phone dies just to see how long the phone lasts......so I made a few phone calls here and there, checked email, used the camera, then after about an hour I take a look at the battery and it is 30%........after 3 hours now it's 10% and the phone is still running....no battery saving mode or anything....

what gives? This is good but surprised why it acts this way

New phone, new battery? It'll discharge "off the curve" for a while. (IOW, the terminal voltage - which is where the State of Charge number is coming from - doesn't follow the curve until the battery "settles in". It can even have a curve that doubles back on itself - which is what you seem to have.)

not a new phone nor battery but I reinstalled lollipop about 5 days ago
