Hi

As much as I love my Galaxy S10 I am struggling with getting a good days battery life even with trying all the different optimisations. I think it is also due to the Exynos version I have.

Just a couple of questions I guess...

When you say optimizations, do you mean the ones built into the device or have you added something to try and get more out of the device? Third party optimizers are anything but optimizing. Often they use just as much or more battery than they claim to save by running in the background constantly and putting items to sleep that the device feels are needed and keeps waking.

What are you doing to optimize your device? The screen you show is not in dark mode, and your screen on time seems to be the biggest portion of your battery use. If you aren't running a theme then using dark mode will save you some battery life. With the S10 if you run a theme dark mode is disabled...? Not sure why that is but because of it I've stopped running themes.

Are you doing anything unhealthy for the battery that may have shortened its life? Do you use it plugged in a lot, have it on your dash or in direct sunlight while you charge in your car (which can cause the whole phone and the battery to get hot), are you allowing the device to die before recharging (allowing the phone to die due to lack of charge is very bad for the battery and the device, and I see no little bump charges throughout your day), or anything else you can think of in your daily habits that have changed?

I mean I just tinker with the battery settings where I set it have adaptive power saving on with medium power saving mode enabled.

Yes I have tried dark theme for a couple days in last but to no avail or little difference.

You don't have to fully charge the phone to wipe the cache partition. If some wonky data was stuck in the cache partition and was causing problems leading to battery drain, then wiping the cache should improve things immediately.

Tried cache partition. Been a few days. Actually having more of a severe battery drain issue. Any other ideas🤔

Poor cell signal can contribute to battery drain, so install GSam Battery Monitor and see what the cell signal strength is like throughout the day. For example, signal strength is pretty lousy where I work, so on those days, my battery life tends to be worse.

Yeah I used to work in a place where my signal was spotty at best so except for lunches and breaks I had to keep in Airplane Mode. It would be kind of odd for signal issues to raise up in the past couple of months but if they are doing tower repair or replacing components causing the tower to be offline, it might not affect the coverage area but it could affect the signal strength which could affect the device searching for a stronger signal.

What is concerning to me is the android system. In both of your screen shots that percentage is really high. Mine is like 2%, yours is equal to your screen usage. Something is keeping your Android System running and it's not taking a break. I'd be really interested in knowing what a day/full charge would be like in safe mode. Curious if it would drop that Android System power usage to something normal, because I'm not even sure if overclocked processors consume that much power where it is equal to screen on time... I don't know if B. Diddy's tip on the battery monitor would also point out system consumption but Safe Mode should minimize it.

Go to phone settings , Then apps>3 Dots upper right corner tap> go to show system apps tap that >scroll down to Android system tap it go to memory show what's been used for last 3 hours , also turn off allow background Data I'll post screenshots

Long press also the power mode on drip down menu use adaptive power saving mode mode .

Let me Know what you find , and yes the EXYNOS chip battery life is not great .
What security update your on ?Screenshot_20190805-223209_Settings.jpegScreenshot_20190805-223113_Settings.jpeg

Thank you all for the tips. I have seen a somewhat improved stamina by applying the following settings:

- Turn off adaptive brightness
- Turn off AOD Always on Display
- Turn off Double tap to wake feature
- Turn off Lift to Wake
- Put phone in Medium Power Saving Mode.
- As stated above by Mustang disabled Android background activity.

Last night I finally saw 4 hrs SOT.

Will see if my battery does improve further and post some screenshots.

Btw I am on the latest security patch of July 2019.

I will try the Safe mode as a last resort.

One last thing , turn syn off, you'll have to manually go into like Gmail or any app and pull down from top to refresh it or when you load new contact to turn it on . That's up up to you though should also help

So here I have my typical daily usage after applying all settings above. Somewhat improvement but nothing to shout about. Even after disabling Android background activity it still is high on the charts.
