Battery life is really bad lately

Battery life with moderate use was dropping from 100% to low 30s in the four to six hour range. I did a hard reset and reinstalled my apps. No improvement. This machine is only six months old. Running the latest release of Android 7. Screen brightness is set to about 20%, ambient screen and Bluetooth are off. Any ideas?

Given that the latest release of 7 is not official yet its possible they still have bugs in it.
The only real way to know if its a battery / hardware or software issue is to put the latest official marshmallow on there and see if you have improved battery life. Then troubleshoot from there.

Well, I down graded to 6.01 and battery life has rebounded nicely. Don't know what the problem in 7 was but I really hope it is addressed in the final version.

I've also had pretty lousy battery life on the couple versions of N beta I've lived with.

Sure hope it's just due to the beta status and things improve with the final release.

I have to vote for a problem stemming from an app or apps that have not yet been optimized to 7 (or some other case-by-case variable) since I've never noticed any negative impact to battery life on either of two different N6s running any of the 7 DPs.

I thought that might be the case as well. That's why I tried a hard reset while still running 7 beta. It didn't really help though. The difference in run time between 6 and 7 has really been night and day. On 6.01, I'm getting roughly 2 1/2 the run time that I got on 7. Additionally, the phone is also running significantly cooler.

I can't help but believe that there is something in the latest version of 7 beta that really doesn't agree with the Nexus 6. I'm assuming that Google will get it fixed in the final version.
