Battery life not good under Lollipop

I'm not sure why AndroidCentral says battery life is about the same under the Lollipop upgrade. Looking around at various forums, I notice many users have had the same experience as I have had. The Lollipop upgrade cuts battery life by 1/2 or more. It's the big problem with the upgrade, and the main reason why instructions on how to downgrade back to KitKat are showing up all over the Internet, including this Forum.

If there's some trick for restoring the battery life to the level on KitKat, someone please post it.. My S5 will only last a few hours now, even without using it.

you should try a cache clear, power your phone off hold down the power button home button volume up key until you get into recovery use the volume rocker to select wipe cache hit the power button to make it happen and then run your phone for a few hours/couple days and see if things are better

factory reset.its a painful process....yes but a lot of users have written in forums that after factory resetting the battery life is much better and speed is much faster

this is true, if it does come down to a factory reset make sure to make a full backup of your pics and contacts & other important stuff first preferably with samsung kies on your laptop ;)

That's what I had to do and it made a world of difference. On a separate note, I continually get a notice that Contacts has failed and closed. Not sure what's going on with this but I see no real impact.

I get that as well, but my phone still overheats. Going by iFixit's teardown, the hottest area is either the RAM, the phone memory, or an RF chip. Putting it in Power Saving mode or turning off Wifi makes it cooler. I've already factory reset twice. Stinks that a software update made the phone unstable. Here's hoping it will last a month so I can get the S6.
