Battery life on Android 5

Seems to have been obliterated. Don't know if it's update growing pains and if it will stabilise. My battery was charged not too long ago and it got all the way down to 1%

Can anyone tell me a good predictive text keyboard? Android 5 has broken the Google keyboard so I make so many more errors

Did you already try wiping the cache partition? What do the battery stats tell you? Charge up to 100%, then let it drain to 20-30% with normal usage, without charging in between. Then show us:

1. The main Settings>Battery screen.
2. The fullscreen battery graph screen (which shows Awake time and Cell Signal Strength).
3. The Screen category (to see total Screen On time).
4. The Cell Standby category, if present (to see Time Without Signal).

Are you looking for a keyboard with good next word prediction, or good autocorrect? If the latter, try Fleksy--it's uncannily good.

Tried wiping the cache in settings, no good. On android 5, scrolling through the notification tray can be sort slow. If I tap on a notification, can wait as long as five minutes for it to open. App switching is horribly slow now, crashes are up (had zero before, apart from 9 Gag and had 3 yesterday). My keyboard stops working, lock screen stops working.

The Google keyboard used to show what you just toed as the middle word, now it doesn't so I make more errors. My Bayer data is attached

All the animations are sluggish. I can tap on something, then wait, still waiting and then finally it does what you told it. The stock Samsung keyboard is actually good though. Google broke theirs and Samsung's is actually fast and works properly

Edit: Okay. I've gone through the recovery boot to clear the cache and it seems quite a bit faster now. The Samsung keyboard does what the Google keyboard used to do

In about fifteen minutes I've lost a about 20% of my battery, and there's lag everywhere

Do you have an SD card? Try unmounting it and removing it. I wonder if the update might have corrupted it.

Yes I do. It probably got corrupt ages ago since the phone can't format it
