Guys:
I am going to buy the Optimus S today. Want to know what the battery life is like on this phone when it's:
1. Unrooted and Stock Sprint.
2. Rooted and romed?

Also, is the phone laggy at all? I'm not expecting EVO like performance but still :)

It lags slightly depending on what tweak apps you install. I was getting 20-24 hours on a single charge and now running cm7 I get 12-18 hours on a single charge. My phone runs fantastic using the kravens rom and iho v3.1 kernel. Drew's cm7 and xionia redux is excellent also.

I'd say give it a try both ways if you like. I have personally had the optimus,evo,ns4g,hero,3d,etc name it i've probably used it or had a decent period of time to spend with each phone. I still would take a optimus over all of them.Once you get past the smaller display i think you'll like the phone. I really wasn't happy with the evo and that was after having the optimus the big display is nice there is no way around that. i think lag is almost the same on the phone's cause the evo lags at time's.The optimus might not have biggest/best display or be the fastest or anything like that but it is a good strong phone that does get great battery life compared to most android devices. Im hoping to have another optimus soon and then ill be using that instead of my ns4g.

Thanks for the comments guys. And honestly, lag is a relative term. Some people will find 1.5 GZ dual core phones laggy as well, so I'm definitely not gonna complain if this thing stutters a bit. As long as the performance is decent and it gets me thru an entire day without a recharge, Ill be a happy camper.

If u do what the great devs on this forum suggest you will be pretty pleased. Everyone on this forum gives great advice on anything you need to make your phone as good as any.

Root either way...otherwise you're never really in control of you're device :) but once I flashed my first custom ROM I never looked back.its like getting a whole new phone.

Rooting with a custom ROM gave me the best performance. I don't know that I'd ever be happy with a stock phone again.

I think battery life is something that varies...I remember when I first got it it would somewhat get me through the day. I rooted it and I started getting up to two days if I just use it here and there...

No airplane mode.

I'm on Reborn ROM 2.2.2

With limited use of sync, background data, light web/talk/text and airplane mode nights, I've seen 80-90 hours on a single charge.
