Battery life overnight and overall worse battery time...

So, recently I have been noticing that my phone has been dying faster overnight. If I charge it before going to sleep, it will go from 100% to 91-92% by morning. I have it on sleep mode during that time and it never went down that much before. At most, it went down 2-3%.

I got the spare parts app and nothing is really keeping the phone from going to sleep.

Also, it seems that it has been dying faster during the day.
Things such as Cell standby and Phone idle can be 10-20%+ each.

Anyone know why?

That seems normal. Put your battery night time saver. I lose 8-10% at night and I have extended battery.

It never used to drain that fast though. The phone is in night saver. Before, it wouldn't lose more than 4% overnight. Now it's up to 10%. It's still using cell standby and phone idle. Shouldn't cell standby turn off with the night saver?

My battery has been the most consistently good thing about my DX. It works great and lasts a long time....always.

My DX has always lost about 10% overnight in the night saver mode.... I would consider 10% normal and the 4% you saw before not normal.

And, for what it's worth, in high performance mode my DX can lose up to 20% overnight.

10% just seems really high when the phone is doing almost nothing.

Also, thoughout the day, 35% of its battery usage was "cell standby," doesn't that seem a bit high?

Now that is high... you need to dial *228 then press option 1 and then dial *228 and press option 2. That should help out with the cell standby issue.

If you do the math, losing 10% overnight (let's say 10 PM to 6AM) would lead to a total battery life of 80 hours if the phone just continued to sit there. So, no, it's not high at all.

.
Just did that, hopefully it will help out. Thanks!

A friend of mine had a relatively new D2 (3 months) and literally overnight was experiencing something similar to you. He tried everything with no luck and finally consulted with Verizon, they ended up replacing his phone....I wonder if this might be an option for you? I figure a phone call to Verizon at the very least might be worthwhile. Hope you get this ironed out.

Thanks, I'll try that, but I've had the phone for almost a year, so not sure how much help they would be. My brother also recently got a DX, so maybe I can use his phone to get a replacement battery.

Another problem I have is that, once the battery gets down to 15%, it instantly goes to 5% and then shuts down if I don't plug it in right away. So basically, when the level says 15%, my phone is really at 0%.

I am sure you considered this but possibly the battery itself is just bad? I purchased a new battery for a Blackberry a few years back that would not hold a charge for it's life. I ended up taking it back, got a new one and it worked like a charm (dams electronics!!). Again, good luck.

Yea, I'm going to see if I can get it replaced by putting it into my brother's 1-month-old DX and having them swap it for a new one.

On the battery life note... I use an app called Battery Left Widget (set to always calibrate and I don't use the widget...I just use the notification in the status bar) and it gives me a better picture as to how much time I have left before my battery dies.

...Good luck with the battery swap.
