My battery life has gotten worse since the update has anyone else noticed a difference.

I feel like it's gotten slightly worse as well. The day after the update (after a full charge) it was draining like crazy when barely even using the phone. I restarted since then, and has settled a bit more, but it was a bit better before the update. It seems like Android system and Android OS are using a bit more battery.

Noticed the same thing with the Android System and Android OS

Dunno... it's hard to tell thanks to Pokémon GO lol. But I didn't really notice anything before I installed it.

Could be thanks to the RAM "optimisation".

Yeah mine are same 2 things stealing battery as you guys. I want to go back to old ram management.

Mine is exactly the same, maybe a touch better. I'm going on two days with light usage.

I rebooted and seems to be back to normal. If you got the update and experience the battery loss I suggest the same.

I have rebooted. Last night I also cleared the cache a couple times from recovery. I'll see if that helps.

I can't say I have any battery issues. I only had the phone a couple of days before I upgraded to 3.2.1 so I can't really compare before/after. I can say though that I charge my phone when I get home at night and disconnect it from the charger when it's done (it's done around 10-11 pm). By the time I get home the next evening, around 6 pm I'm usually around 40% battery left (no charging "top offs" at all). That's with, according to GSAM, ~2.5 hours SOT, wifi on 7x24, BT on and in use ~4 hours per day (podcasts to my car head unit), and sometimes nav on for a couple of hours a day. I get notifications throughout the day for apps like ESPN, maybe a txt message or two, and I spend some of that SOT time browsing or on other apps like Twitter.

OP
I had the exact same experience. My battery life used to be awesome and after the upgrade I am getting a less than satisfactory battery life experience. Phone started draining battery even when it wasn't in use. My idle drain went from a few percent points to almost 20% an hour. To make matters worse I could not for the life of me figure out the reason. Every single time the battery statistics would give me a different reason. Sometimes it is Android system and sometimes it is apps like Gmail. Very frustrating to say the least.

Anyways after trying a ton of options I did a factory reset last evening. Let's see how it goes. Haven't installed any apps yet. But it certainly is a bit disheartening to see that after all these years Google still doesn't have its **** together when it comes to battery life. I moved recently from an iPhone 6 plus to Android and so far battery life is the only gripe I have with this phone.

I should mention that I upgraded to 3.2.1 using the German VPN site. I don't know whether that had anything to do with it.

Good luck you you

I have had good battery life with 3.2.1 as well. I took it off charge before I went to bed(at 100%) around 11pm and it was at 97% at 7:30am. Not bad at all. I consistently get 4 hours of SOT with heavy use including exchange with Nine.

That sounds like good battery life for the usage patterns you have.

If you have crazy drains like that, I would start with clearing the cache first, and if that doesn't do anything, run it in safe mode for a few hours to see if it's a system app or third party app draining your battery. Factory reset obviously works too, but those first steps do away with starting fresh.

Edit: for future reference I guess.

I'm in the same boat as you coming from the iPhone. Just having the phone in my pocket driving to work for 20 min it dropped 2% which isn't whole lot but the iPhone it would take several hours before it even drops 1%

I'm an Android fan through and through. But yes, this is one of androids biggest issues. I don't give a **** if my battery drains like crazy when I'm using the hell out of it. But when I forget about it in my pocket when I'm busy, I don't want to be worried that a rogue app is killing my battery without me knowing. That just shouldn't happen. And the normal user isn't gonna have a clue what to do. That's why all the basic bitches use iPhones. Cause it can be as basic as you want it and not worry about Instagram draining your battery in the background.

OK so my battery definitely isn't fairing as well. I've done everything but factory reset it. Which I HATE doing just to fix an issue. And I have a feeling a reset will not fix anything.

The two main culprits other than screen time, are still consistently Android system and Android OS. Whereas before the update, and pretty much any other phone I use, it's usually 1. screen time 2. most used app 3. second most used app, and THEN Android system/OS.

So pretty sure that means it's something on the system side and I don't have clear faith that a reset will have an effect. Whether it is a direct consequence to "better" ram management or not, it's kinda bummer. The rest of the update is solid, though, especially pertaining to the camera. So I'm not totally bummed by it.

Guess we'll see what happens next.

My battery life feels noticeably worse after the update. It's still good, but not as awesome as before. As noted in other posts, it seems to have increased especially when the phone is idle with screen off.
