Battery Life w/ 2.2

I work in an office where several of us have Mesmerize phones, and I've updated 4 of them to the official 2.2 release.
I haven't noticed any issues with my phone, but a couple of my users have noted that their battery life has worsened with the update. They both claim to not have anything running in the background perpetually, and I'm guessing they wouldn't be running anything different with 2.2 than they were with 2.1.
Any ideas on what might have changed? Is there some setting that got reset with the update that could be causing drain? Any additional bloat that got installed?

That's a tough one...though I'd have to say that if it's just a couple that are experiencing battery life issues, and they were all upgraded the same way, it's probably some app causing it. Or possibly are they taking advantage of the Flash capabilities of 2.2? That would definitely make a difference.

The other thing to look at is trying to full-cycle the battery.

My understanding is that the battery doesn't really tell the actual amount of charge left, but uses an algorithm to calculate charge left. When the OS got updated, it loses its reference point. By letting the battery drain, then fully recharging, you start to reconfigure those reference points.

I know when I installed 2.2, my battery meter started to drop quicker. After a couple of full battery cycles, it seems to have gone back to the levels before the upgrade.

Thanks for the responses, the battery cycle seems like a possible culprit, I'll mention it to the guys having issues.

Battery Life

I updated to 2.2 and noticed the battery life had gotten worse as well. I played with the phone for awhile and now have better battery life than before the update. The one thing I noticed was on 2.1 if you set the Wifi to never sleep it helped with battery life. With 2.2, it does not help. If you have Wifi on and not getting a great signal, it will kill your battery at about 8-9% per hour. If you turn Wifi on only when needed, this will help immensely. I also noticed if I turn off Auto Rotation in the notification pull down, it makes all the difference. I now noticed when I turn on my phone at 6:00 AM it has about 45-55% battery left around 11:00 PM with moderate use. Before doing the above, the battery would be down to single digits. Needless to say, I do not have Bluetooth or GPS on unless I need it which is rare. I hope this helps. The phone is an amazing one.
