I know this is an old complaint but i'm new to this, and can't understand a battery life shorter than a POS Nextel. I'm told appkiller programs can damage your phone. Glad this forum is here. Instructions online are useless. Thanks for any help.

I recommend juice defender which helped me out a great deal...it turns off data when your screen is off but still allowing text and email and data updates a set intervals.

I also recommend watch dog which will watch for power sucking apps and alert you to them...giving you options.

Welcome to AC. There's plenty of info if you search the forums on ways to conserve battery life.
Screen brightness
Screen timeout
Widget update intervals
Background data sync
Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS

Hi, Azash.

Welcome on board.

Happy to have you here at Android Central.

Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to A/C. Overall task killer can cause your phone to run crappy and sluggish. But on the other end, it can help since some apps does not close all the way when you just hit the escape key.

Best way to use a task killer is to SHUT OFF auto-kill and I highly recommend that you put a lot of stuff on the ignore list. I have Handcent, alarm, browser, fancy widget, tikl and others that are used a lot. Pretty much at the end of the day, task killer is only allowed to kill off games and 3rd party apps I use once in a while.

Another good thing to do is a cache cleaner.

My favorite solutions for brightness use (biggest battery hog) and overall battery life:

InvisiBright - use all day, everyday
Quick Settings - toggles everything
AdjBrightness - Root only (goes below allowed minimum brightness - clunky UI)
