Battery Life

I've had my U11 for just over 1 week now and I have to say, I am impressed with the battery life on this phone.

The attached screen shot shows that I am getting around 26hours of battery life on average and a tad over 5 hours of SOT. So, quite happy about that. The same screen shot shows that with 8% left I had 31 hours of battery life with 3.5 hours of SOT.

What I have noticed is that if the phone is not on charge over night that it drains about 1% per hour, so between 6-8% total battery drain over night depending on how long I sleep Is that normal, about 1% per hour if not being used and screen off?

Would like to hear back from other people out there to see what kind of battery life y'all are getting.

Well, I don't have a U11, but if the screen is off and your battery percentage is dropping 1% per hour, consider the following:

- are you using any features like Do Not Disturb, etc?
- are any heavy usage apps (like Facebook) running in the background? That could cause a drain on one's battery, even when the phone is not in use
- is your phone set to Vibrate mode? That will cause a drain on battery
- are you using the stock launcher that came with your phone, or are you using another launcher?

Yeah the standby time on this phone is amazing compared to Samsung Phones. Every Samsung phone I've had drains battery on standby like no tomorrow even with all apps on doze and location services off.

Went for the Solar Red, which I have to say probably looks a little too much on the pink side when in the clear case.

The answer to the first 3 questions are all no. Well, maybe the DND is yes. I set the phone to no sound, and no vibrate at night. I always disable the FB app and just use Chrome if I want to check FB. Using the stock launcher as well. Maybe 1%/hour is normal. I have 2 email accounts that will get checked but can't imagine that will drain the battery too much.

In my experience, 1%/hour on standby isn't bad at all. I'd be happy with it, anyways. It's not iPad standby, which is more like 1%/day, but it's better than some Android phones I've had.

It certainly isn't a bad drain by any means! I find that my DND causes a bit of one but if yours is only one percent per hour I'd say that's pretty good!

Sorry to hear about the Solar Red. I'm a girl and I'd want a redder look over the pink lool.

Went with the blue one. I also like the fact that HTC gives you a 30 day return period, even though it seems from some threads on here that returns are not without problems.

Last night I went to sleep at 11 with the battery at 43%; got up at 6 and the battery was at 40%. And yes, I use DND. I love the battery on this phone. Granted I'd probably be considered a pretty light user but I find I'm going almost 2 days on a charge.

The blue was a great choice! And yes, I have heard some stories of return issues. Hopefully HTC smoothes those out along the way!

In to my third week and the battery life on this phone is holding up great. Averages are showing 1 day 4 hours with 4 hours 50 mins of SOT. For sure this phone's battery life is better than the S8.

Thank you for your mini review! These are great things to keep in mind when purchasing a phone. Glad that we can now have in the field tests to see how good the battery is!

Wow, that's better than any stats I ever got on my M8. That phone was my battery champ. Any other recommendations/tweaks to the settings or system you use that would be beneficial?

I just got mine yesterday and haven't done any rigid testing. But, I noticed that after an entire day of playing around with it, including the initial setup and app installs, I had over 6 hours of SOT when it poppped up with the 15% remaining warning or whatever. Might have been 10% remaining.

In any case, that seems pretty good given that Android was doing all of its initial optimizations and such. I was pleasantly surprised.

Actually I let the Boost+ app do optimizations on its own and then it found some apps with excessive battery usage that I ended up disabling.

I did a hard reset a few days ago because the phone was going through a period of abnormal resets every week or so. In the 2-3 days since the reset, I'm managing 5+ hours of SOT with 30% of battery left at the end of the day, whereas before I was averaging 3-4 hours.

Suffice to say that I definitely have noticed a marked improvement in SoT. If this phone doesn't have anymore abnormal resets then I'm all good.
