I've had my Galaxy Note 8 for a month now and in my experience with the phone it seems to be improving over time. The more I use the phone the better it performs. Battery life has been one of those areas I've improvements in. Actually on this particular day I was interested in seeing how far I could push this phone watching videos all day and how fast the phone would hold up. I have not turned off any toggles like NFC, Mobile Data, Bixby voice, etc. I always keep Bluetooth off unless I'm using it. I am using the Full HD+ resolution though but that's good enough for me right now. This is the first time I've managed to get this kind of battery life.
Has your battery life seem to improve over time? Stayed the same? Or gotten worth over time? What's your experience been like?

With the correct settings battery life has been awesome for me still get 15 hours of heavy use daily.

With normal usage, nothing excessive, my Note 8 goes down about 10% every hour. That means if you don't want to let your battery drop below 50% due to general maintenance reasons, it lasts about half a day before I need to charge. I'm not using fast charge either in order not to overheat battery. I will be getting a new device on Monday, let's see if it will behave similarly.

Iv'e only had the Note 8 for about a week, but so far the battery life has been far better than I expected it to be. With the bigger screen than my previous phone (S7 Edge) and the fact that it has a slightly smaller battery I expected the battery life wouldn't be better. However, the battery life has been much better than the S7 Edge even when it was new. This with everything being set up the same and my usage probably being heavier this week because of the newness factor.

Who did you talk to about the problem? I have to do the same, recharge during the day. I love my note 8 but my husband and son have an 8+ and both of their phones last a long time and my son is on his a lot. My daughter has a pixel xl and hers lasts a lot as well. I just want to keep a note 8 but want a great battery.

I first talked to my local Samsung Service Centre in London and they exchanged motherboard and battery on site. This did not change anything and the temperature of the battery was running quite high (between 35-40 degrees centigrade when idle).

I then talked to Vodafone and they gave me a replacement device yesterday. Since then, the temperature of the device is significantly lower (ca. 25-30 degrees when idle, up to 35 degrees in use) but so far I have not seen a significant change in battery life. I guess it is too early to comment on that so I will keep monitoring and report back in a week's time or so.

As a side note, a colleague has an S8 Dual SIM and his battery easily lasts a full day. He uses it for both, work and personal purposes. My wife has an iPhone 8 and hers also easily lasts a full day with no charging. It appears that the S Pen comes at a pretty high price when it comes to battery life...

It's weird how technology works. I've seen people claiming they've managed to get a full day plus more worth of battery life, others claim they've had to charge their phones twice in a day. I consistently have noticed better battery life the more I use my phone. I'm starting to see more consistently between 6-7hrs screen on time and manage to get through the day no problem. I haven't turned anything off on my device and I use the S Pen quite a bit. I wonder if perhaps the network the phone is being used with has something to do with the way the performance of a device is affected

That's very interesting. I will keep a close eye on the battery life over the next weeks to see whether it improves.

Anecdotally, I charged the phone over night and disconnected it at 7am. By 2pm I had 40% battery left, charged it back to 100% (slow charge which took until 3.30pm) and am now (7.30pm) at 70%. So the performance is already slightly better than the 10% per hour of the previous device.

people who start getting lag are usually people who install endless number of apps and not paying attention to what permissions they allow these apps, I've had note 2,3,4 and now 8 and lag has been non existant, 2 and 3 I did use custom rom on after the first 6 months though

Ok so I have a question then I don't have alot of apps on my phone at all but not alot but yea I do see some lag moments where it will stutter but nothing to major how some ppl are saying and yes. I have experience this from the s5 to the Note 4,5 s7edge and now the note8. So what permissions are you particularly talking about. I because if it's apps that making my phone loose batter life as well I would like to know for me this is just me when I first got the phone with me just trying not use it I got 6 hours screen on time and that's the best I have ever got from anysamsung device I have ever own but that's when I first got it now I'm pushing 4 sometimes at the most 5 hours depending on what in doing . How ppl are getting over 7 and close to 9 hours of screen on time I would love to know so I can get it lbvs

When you talk about your battery life and SOT, everyone should also mention how much gas is left in the tank, when they are quoting these numbers. Some will recharge their phones at 40 percent and some will let their batteries get down to 10 percent or lower. Personally, I recharge at 30 percent and easily have nearly 6 hours of SOT at that point. I have my GPS always on and my screen resolution on the highest setting. However, I keep my phone in optimized performance mode and have the brightness between 25 and 40 percent. Bluetooth is usually off but wifi is usually on.

I have not seen any improvement in my battery life, but the great battery life I have is quite consistent.

I have been weaning myself off of topping off the battery during the day. Maybe on the weekend I might top it off later in the morning if I've been on it, but sometimes I don't. I don't think I've ever come close to where I had to worry about the battery lasting all day. Even with heavier usage, the least my battery estimate is like 22 hours. Most of the time, it's giving me around a 28-32 hour estimate when I plug it in at night. Meaning, like 16 hours off the charger and 16 hours estimated battery life left. Usually around 2-2.5 hours SOT.

See your screen on time is something I get around often as well yes I do get through the day and I do have a battery pack in my pocket so I don't be t much worried. I just would like to know how ppl are getting over 7 to 8 plus hours of screen on time lol what am I doing wrong

We all use our phones differently. I personally use my phone differently each day. Some days I watch a lot of videos. Others days I do a lot of Twitter with some YouTube added in the mix. I have my phone set up in the FHD+ resolution and in the optimized performance mode. In the screen shots those are the toggles that pretty much come already turned on I've never switched those off and only use Bluetooth when I'm in the car. My always on display I only turn it off when I'm going to sleep at night. And I do restart my phone every week once to make sure all settings and catched and background services get restored and any that are not supposed to be on are shut down. I don't use the device maintenance often as I feel that also impacts battery life because of the shutting down of background processes that are required by apps I have open in the background that then have to turn those services back on again. And I never close my apps unless is an app I don't use on a regular basis.

I can easily get 1.5 days of moderate to high use. I know is great when my 14 year old son gets 24hrs from his as he is truly a power user. :)

After some more testing I've managed to get even more use out of the phone. I've been testing turning off none essential features in the phone and managed to get close to 6hrs screen on time and a full day usage. 3% battery left. Turning off NFC and AOD really helps increase battery life. I don't mind turning off NFC as I don't use Samsung Pay that often or anything that uses NFC but I still want to find a way to keep AOD on, keeping WQHD+ resolution as well and get great battery life. More testing will be done. I'll keep posting my results here.

ok like I was saying before lol I'll talk about today maybe it's just me I had like 8 hours off the chrage and I had if I'm not mistaking 3 hours screen on time with 35 percent battery. is that bad battery life like I wasn't really doing anything on my phone a hour ohone call and hour back ground play of you tube and that's it I mostly text throughout the day . I don't use nfc don't use gps unless I have to I don't use aod I did turn off high performance mode but kept my screen on wqhd . I personally feel with how much the phone is I should have to do all of this just to get good battery life but hey that's me
