I am pleased with battery life on Q. I was getting excellent SoT and battery life on my Day One Pixel 2XL. Now I have a brand new Panda 2XL the battery life is still excellent. It is better than I had on Pie by a long way.939865626.jpeg434652032.jpeg

Yeah, I agree. My 3XLwith Android Q beta 3 battery life is freaking insane!

I have been getting 8-9 hours sot
I honestly don't know how much screen on time I'm getting because whenever I'm in my car even though Android Auto isn't currently working I still charge my phone off USB. But I can tell you that my battery is freaking strong as hell. Last at least the day if not a longer.

Some people have said Q has drained their batteries but mine have never been better. I love my Pixel 2XL and I love Android Q. Lots of love coming out of the UK today!!

You no I know what you're talking about. If you go into the Android Q beta issue tracker, there are a lot of people complaining about bad battery drainage issues. I mean granted I know that everyone's pissed off responds differently to test beta software so it's not consistent. I mean for example a lot of users are complaining that a lot of things like third party apps in the place store are crashing or just don't work. I haven't experienced anything like this either. The only two issues that I have are Android Auto, and the RCS messaging featuring Android messaging. That's it. I mean granted, I don't use my phone heavily for talking or texting, mostly for blogs, YouTube, and just keep me up to date with news.

Figured I'd include screenshots of my battery usage.

I dunno what the discrepancies are? But I have had a few crashing apps and one of my banking apps won't let me use fingerprint login. But I have been stable so far.

I mean I Will have an application crash every now and then but nothing that's consistent or persistent on me. Most of everything is perfect.

Just out of curiosity, do you have an all black wallpaper or do you have a color wallpaper? The reason I ask you comment is that most people suggest for AMOLED screens or OLED screens to have a pure black wallpaper For matters having which usually makes sense, however, I've never noticed the battery savings difference. I'm doing some of the test for myself. I reset my wallpaper to lighter more colorful wallpaper to see if I can tell if there is any more of a battery drain or not.

My battery is at least as good as pie or perhaps a little better. A little better might be due to the dark mode, not sure how much that makes a difference or not. Certainly no worse I’m happy with it, pixel two

Now, while I never had pie on any of one of my phones, Q beta seems to be amazing with battery. Whether it's with the dark mode, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery etc etc.

Currently I have a lighter wallpaper. I did have some dark wallpapers but not sure if it did help. Still getting same kind of battery life

Yeah, the same thing for me as well. I've had dark wallpapers on my phone and didn't notice any battery savings so I put a slightly less dark wallpaper on my phone that was it.

For me, the battery drainage with Android betas, all of them, is related to me spending a lo of time on my phone looking for and checking out new features and new bugs.

That's just me, though. After the new wears off, so does my battery drainage.

haha, that's also very true. We are all obsessed with the operating system in the beta stage specifically. Although me I'm obsessed with my phone every single day beta or not, but it's a very good point to note!

I agree with you both. But still my battery life is pretty decent.

@mustang7757 got me thinking about battery now, so has anyone tested an overnight? I'd be interested in the idle drainage on Q. I think, I may try it out over the weekend vs 9.0 on my daily Pixel.

I can't say I see any real difference in battery life going from P to Q. I still lose about 6% to 8% overnite while the phone is idle. (pixel2)
